I made the switch but I'm sure most will say they would rather have the freedom of flying helicopters.I'll take the money and ALPA union.

*The pilots will get a raise of at least 18% raise on the date the contract is signed, another 5% after one year, 4% after two years and 4% after three years, it says.

How does 18 + 5 + 4 + 4 = 34?  Asking for a friend.

Total from the start   Ex. You make 100,000 per year and add 18 then 5 , 4 , 4 you would be at 134,000. So 34 percent.   Compounded

100,000 + .18= 118,000

118,000 + .05(5,900)= 123,900.

123,900 + .04(4,956)= 128,856.

128,856 + .04(5,154)= 134,010.

make sense now?

I really hope this was a joke: "you can't do simple math! 18+5=23+4=27+4=31!! Not 34!" Because if it isn't, I hope you have someone else managing your finances.

By your thinking it's strictly based on $100k. Most heavy PIC/1st Officers make much more than that SO depending on base salary it could come out to way more. $180k x %18= 212.440 x %5 = 223.060 ...........

The bottom line is airline PIC/1st Officers make $$$,$$$$.

I've been informed by my organization that they hired some company that did all sorts of research and found out that inflation isn't a real thing. Our pay is just fine the way it is. Furthermore, compared to the other big company in the gulf, it's compatible to their pay, so that's double confirmation that no changes should be made. If this pay scale has been working for the last decade, no reason to fix what ain't broke

Please, let me sit 7.9 hours a day staring at a flight director and blabbing to 150 ‘guests’ about how we’re real sorry that the flight is leaving 3 hours late because fat Sarah the flight attendant wasn’t here.
I’ll take the incompetence of the forest service over that. Same money

I'm a utility pilot in my early fifties making 180-200k/ year for 180 days worked. How long would it take to get to that in the airlines?  I have ASEL and airplane instrument rating, nuthin much. Just curious. Obviously too old.

It's the end of the progression you should be looking at. Fly 2-3 days here and there for damn near 400k annually

You don't stare at a flight director constantly. Take a nap, read a book, listen to podcasts etc. easiest job to do nothing for way more than I ever made in a helicopter. Crossing the Atlantic is much better than hopping to toad stools in a crap 407 with no AC and living in a trailer in Houma! The helicopter industry is not attracting the numbers of young military pilots it once did due to the amount of time and effort to gain minimum experience to get hired at a lower salary than a regional airline pays now ! The return on investment is not there in the rotor industry. It's only going to get worse, all while the management scratch their old gray and bald heads.
