There are some Coorperate positions that require and ATP, and they will gladly flip the bill for you to get it.  However, it seems most the rest of the industry only requires a Commercial though some SPIFR operators recommend an ATP.

Any company can get lower insurance rates the more ATP's it has on staff.

I retired holding ATPs in both fixed and rotory wing certificates.  I wanted to be more qualified than the commercial certificated pilots i was competing with.  What's the difference, not much but when a employer looks at resumes he'll pick the ATP first.  That's why a ATP is worthwhile.  Oh and it works.
