What are the temporary positions with air methods? Guessing covering for pilots on deployment or out for medical issues so duration varies by need? Will AM hire for a short duration or do they expect you to be employed long term and move to a different location when the pilot returns? Any other info on these positions? |

You will be hired to cover a position at a specific base. That opening is usually due to a medical condition of a pilot that is expected to be resolved In the future. Once that person returns you will be used as a regional or national relief pilot. When hired you will sign a training contract during Indoc that obligates you to stay with AMC for a year. I won't argue the legalities of such contract here, that's a whole different thread. After a year you are free to resign.
I was a temporary hire for a base. After 4 months at the base my position became permanent when the pilot I was covering for lost his medical for good. |

Divorcees. Military retireee money chasers. Young, single guys looking for adventure. People with marriages who don't want to be together. Or people who know there's a base right where they want to be but there's no opening and want to get "in" by taking a temp company position until a position opens at their desired base (but beware, this can backfire if that's your strategy.
National/Regional Float positions are good for anyone who needs more cash (you'll make way more in those positions). But beware: it will take a toll on the marriage if you do it too long. The money's not THAT good to make it up to the wife/kids. |

you're saying there is a dollar amount that makes it worth it to take a job that has you away from your family for 9 out of every 14 days |
