Exactly!

The pilots will pay dues to and be supposedly represented by fellow pilots with already inflated egos. Pilots that now will be given an official soapbox. Once again, it's Management vs. Pilots. The climate there must suck.

Now the pilots have to pay union dues...and for what exacly?

Efforts to retain pilots is nothing new. The union make recommendations, that operators are already aware of and consider despite the union.  Typically, the union will claim any positive change victory that was initiated by them. The "what can we do to retain pilots and mechanics" are central questions brought up at most head-shed meetings. Pay, housing, schedules, vacations, 401ks etc., are all discussed, proposed, and implemented without any input from the union. These are not new industry issues. Losing pilots and their aeronautical experience is expensive for all operators. Losing pilots and mechanics costs a company much more than monitarliy. The experienced pilots and mechanics walking out the door have a significant intrinsic value that impacts safety, culture, aeronautical experience, customer satisfaction. All retention ideas are important, discussed, and if able, implemented..Unfortunately the common credo for unions, and I witnessed this first-hand as the L-##8's reps did this very thing, is to jump onto the tail-end touting "look what we did for our dudes!" A negative side to this beahvior is that it weakens the culture. Management vs. Pilots syndrome. Lose-lose.

I look forward to reading the comments

if you worked for PHI, you would know that 108 represents all PHI pilots, not just oil and gas. I'd be interested to know what "pilot lounge" you were in. If you're going to add details to lend credibility, it helps to get them right.

the moderators deleted the last paragraph where he talks about the lack of education and the political affiliation (which he cmade up) of 108's leadership. too bad, as that's the part that outed him as a fraud.

Awesome. Will you show the forum how, exactly, 109 helped their represented pilots from soup-to-nuts?

I know several Bristow pilots that can shed some light on how well they were represented during the Era merge. Sad that the union takes pilot pay and gives nothing in return. In my little experience, union Stewards, reps and the like are typically disgruntled pilots with overly inflated egos that were given a platform. Most of them remind me of the kids who needed the participation trophy to placate them. All expensive talk.

They put workers before big business and politics.

treat members with respect and as professional.

represent and fight for the good workers and hold those that give us a bad name accountable

and responsible for their actions and broke the mold on typical unions who only defend the

troublemakers and lazy. They provide a ton of benefits for members and their families

and even gave us our dues back for year when the company refused to give us a raise.

I for one and very happy with the 109 and obviously the check airmen seen something they liked and

want to be a part of it! I say welcome to OPEIU and I hope they get rolled into yhe 109. It would be great to

have bidding rights and protections that work between the line and training department. A lot of great

instructors refuse to go to training because of what they would lose. I hope thats the first fix because the

company is missing out on great people
