There is no NTSB preliminary as of this morning.


“Coast Guard District Eight watchstanders received a call at 6:35 p.m. from Westwind Helicopter Inc."


This means the accident happened at sunset or shortly after. Go outside at sunset and tell me if it's dark or not.



Yes, you should avoid companies with bad management.

and it's often wrong on details, just like you. The Coast Guard reported the call at 6:35.  Flightaware shows the last hit at 5:10, 1:13 minutes before sunset. He would have made it to Patterson or wherever he was going before sunset.
