Anyone know the starting wage for PHI and Bristow for A&P without experience? Any increase for rotor experience? Last I heard was $26 to $28 per hour green. Thanks.

Why would anyone go work in a dying career field. In a terrible location. When the airlines are paying 50 to 60 dollars and hour?

If you have no family and are young, get on with the majors now, get your pay and seniority before you have kids so you can get weekends off. Otherwise, plan on working nights and weekends and making good money.

based on those top outs it looks like the GOM top outs are equal to or more than 5 of the "majors" listed. While it does take longer to top out in the GOM its not really an issue for me. Being able to remain living where the wife wants and a 14/14 schedule helps offset that issue. Appreciate the input.

There are line qual premiums, license premiums, shift diff premiums, and location hard-to-fill premiums. Some also give profit sharing. Not all, but the top brands on that list could net a topped-out mech approx 140k with the potential for added double time on top of that. No BS gom helicopter company will ever pay that kind of compensation. They'd rather fire everybody and let the mgt pull the golden parachutes.

A lot of the airline jobs require a move to areas with higher COL or higher population density. In my case, 14&14 schedule is worth the difference in the top pay of 140k. So with a couple hitches OT a year I get close to the same money and can remain living where the family wants to. In my book you make the job what it is for you not the other way around. Besides would rather work on an S92 than 737 any day. Appreciate the input.

But doubt anyone would say they don't go to work for the money. That said, a career to retirement favors airlines and package delivery companies over oil and gas transportation in case you have not kept up with current events.

Said money isn't everything. And I know a number of others who have said the same thing. If that was the case then every A&P would be working at the airlines and package delivery. Personally I'd work utility again but the schedule was getting old, however, the money was better than the airlines. As to business in the GOM, seems with the 10 year contracts being signed by the majors there will be gainful employement for A&Ps well into the future. At least long enough until I retire. Curious, where do you work?
