If the Check Airman organize, can/will they get DOH bidding seniority intergrating into the seniority list one-for-one?
IOWs, suppose they want to bid for an open position, will their bidding seniority be based on their DOH, since they are ACTUAL employees for the company during the time they were Check Airman? What about Check Airman who have worked for the company since, say, oh, 6/6/11; will they get seniority for all that time, or will they be entering the seniority list as a NEW HIRE?
What about all those pilots who voluntarily the company to work elsewhere and came back, not as a buyout or merget? Do they get to keep their seniority as if they never left?
Curious minds really want to know! |

It will be based on the agreed negotiations between Local 109, current members, AMC, and the Check Airmen. They may get DOH, modified DOH, stapled to the bottom of the list, any or all. Keep in mind those who are currently on the seniority list may not be happy to loose seniority by having CA placed above them.
Here is my weird example. Hired as a base pilot in 2014 and placed on the seniority list. Base closed in 2016. Left the company for 5 months. Rehired as a relief pilot. Company seniority was 2014 hire date. Bidding seniority for union positions was original hire date plus 5 months. So I lost the 5 months I was gone. That's fair. Then after 2 years as a relief pilot I became a per diem part time pilot. Non union position. Did that for a year. Finally left the company for good. So I spent 5 years with the company but my union time was only 3.5 years. Make sense? No really |

The only thing that may be different is that the CA's are organizing under a different class/craft. i don't know if that matters at all but could be an argument against. And the fact that they have been considered some sort of management types, but we all know they really were'nt any type of management that mattered.
Personally, I think they should get full senority. We've acquired so many companies and have given pilots senority as if they worked for AMC the whole time in which they didn't. I was totally against it but it is what it is. At lease the CA's have actually been working with AMC. |

Can you please explain the per diem pilot. How many shift make do they want from you a month? Also, is becoming a per diem pilot something that you can request (if a full-time base pilot) or does there have to be an opening/ announcement for the position? Thanks. |

Per deim pilot- First of all, the position may not exist anymore with AMC. I haven't seen it posted in awhile. For me, the Regional Aviation Manager created the position for me after working for him for 3+ years as a base pilot and full time relief pilot. Non-Union position, no benefits, hourly pay was the same as my full time relief pilot pay. Still received travel pay, daily meal allowance, daily hotel coverage, etc. We had a " gentleman's agreement " that I would work a 7 day shift per month plus travel days to/ from a base in the region. So, 9 days on each month, 21 days off. Sweet deal for all involved. New RAM comes along, wants to convert me back to full time Relief Pilot. I along with the part time position go away. No hard feelings, it's business. I've been retired ever since. |

The position is what it means: Part-Time
There are no union benefits, no dues, no grievance protections. You work when you want to, and promise to do at least a few shifts a month. Some work many locations, flying across the country here and there, others stay just local. You are reimbursed for travel and expenses over and above your daily rate. You are responsible for your own medical/401k//dental. You generally choose when and where you wish to work, and often do lots of maintenance runs and "ferry" flights (repos). Some are Part 91 only, others are Part 135 qualified. Many are dual aircraft qualified.
Its a local/regional thing. If there is a need in region, they will have a few Part 91 pilots in their hip pocket. |

I believe the CBA states that if you work more than 14 days each month for 3 consecutive month you revert to full time, but that may have changed. Also, there is a limit on the number of Pt. 135 pilots that can be part time. |
