So here we go.
Do they still ask airspace questions on the checkride??? I only operate class G or E, whatever. I don't talk to tower because I fly utility. Old school.
Systems-wise whats the beef? Just learn the lights and good to go right? Land ASAP or Practical. Whats the game, there isn't a need to understand wet sump vs dry sump etc. etc. etc. etc.
Do I need to go get in a tin can Robinson or whaat do you guys thinK? Bell 206 might be similar priced huh? |

I did mine in a Bell47 G2. Easy helicopter systems and some approaches in VFR conditions. Look for a company that speacialises in 5 day ATPH. Start with the the FAA ATP H written test, then you will know what you need to cover. |

First, you’re a troll! Otherwise you’re an azzz! Seems a lot of ‘other’ flyers think we utility flyers are dirty coveralls hicks just barely a step from tractor drivers.
We all can navigate the airspaces, know weather minimums, can often interpret FAR’s from memory. It’s just different than corporate or HAA.
Can you write a congested area plan to lift a 3000 pound air conditioner from the street to a 25 story building in downtown Dallas?
On the other hand I have no idea how to do an instrument approach to a hospital rooftop. |

It's one speciality vs another, using the same type of equipment. Commercial or ATP? Depends on the job requirement, and there's always the insurance companies demanding higher standards or higher premiums. Over the years I've learned to admit I know nothing about something, rather than everything about nothing. |

rooftop is no different from one to a 12000 ft runway....you fly the approach to the MAP and then proceed visually or execute the missed. |

Not the same. Special training required for hospital approach. Some as slow as 70kts and steep with additional requirements depending on surroundings.
Now... out in the sticks an approach to a rooftop pad perched high may be similar to a runway, but not in the middle of the city. |

you fly the procedure and then proceed visually or execute the missed.
Airspeed is just a number, you don't need special training to hold 70 kts.
Center the needles and hit the numbers, it's not a lunar landing. |
