Certificate. You earn it. Many DEs and FAA examiners want to see a mastery of the aircraft, including aircraft knowledge and flight.

Just answer the guy's question.  He wasn't asking for a complete study guide or anything.  We all know idiot DPE types who like to ask stupid stuff...

Done concurrent with 135 annual. No curveballs no trivial stuff. I would say more focus on aircraft systems compared to your run of the mill 135 ride or comm ride.

The examiner for my type certificate in an S64 felt I was not fully prepared because I didn’t know tower light gun signals and exact runway threshold distance for the class D we were at.
He also steadfastly argued that landing in a wildness area was never allowed. Odd since he was also a fire pilot.
So be sure to know stupid stuff that hasn’t been relevant since I got my certificate in 1990.

My helicopter ATP ride was one of the easiest of my career. The brief was a little long, but that was mostly because the DPE passed along alot of practical knowledge and stories from his career. The ride itself was an instrument take off with vectors to holding followed by a localizer followed by an ILS followed by a couple of autos. He threw a settling with power demo and a hyd failure in the mix. Honestly, the hardest part was the very bottom of the ILS, as short final was over a lake, ans it got a little bumpy. But really, it was pretty low-threat.

If you struggle with an ATP ride, don't know what to tell you.

I didn't mean to imply OP's gonna struggle. I just think he/she's worrying too much. That said, there are some DPEs out there who are a bit more strict in their interpretations.
