What does pj pay? They seem to always be hiring. Is the work only in California? Thanks

I would've said the same. But as of the last 6-10 months or so, most HAA jobs are probably paying more then 70% of utility jobs.

it used to be you went to utility for the $$$. I don't know anymore. There's plenty AMC, reach, etc... drivers out there now that I know will make 150k+ in 2022 and going forward. every job has its pros and cons though.

Power line pilots are making 200k + for 180 days. If you're not there then you better get with the program.

That's over $1100 a day. I'd say it's realistically in the 650-750 range and A LOT more days for the 200K. You obviously aren't counting the travel days so forget about 180 days. It's more like 230+. Probably some top guys make 800. I'm a EMS float and I'll make 140 this year with no OT and probably fly 150-200 hours. I could go utility and hang out the door all day long over power lines for another 30. Yeah, right.

$200K for 180 days?!? Please post where that's being made at because I've been doing this for 28 years, and I highly doubt you're bringing in that amount. I'll post my numbers here just for reference. $875/day + $125 FH On a 21/10.

Yeah that's what I'm telling you. I asked what pj pay. If it's below 200k for 180 days i won't even apply. You've been doing this for 28 years you best ask some people what theyre making. You think ems has increased due to lack of pilots and utility has not? Power line is the specialized pilots in this industry and I wouldn't do it for less than 200. Over the past 10-15 years pay has continuously increased and continues to increase for the handful of guys in this industry that are good at what they do. Maybe yer not good?

You're just digging yourself a deeper hole there buddy. Post the company name whos paying that, and I'll get in touch with them, because no one I know is making that unless they have no life, and work 300+ days a year on the road.

Wilson, Winco, Haverfield, Air2, Brim, PJ, HLH, Rotorblade, Aerial Sol, A&P, SEH, Helistream, Timberline, Rogers/Source, HeliServices, EC Source, Summit...list goes on....

None of those companies have anyone on payroll making $200K guaranteed a year.

I’ve worked for 5 of the listed companies. I have a good reputation in the trade and I’ve never heard of anyone making 200K a year.
$100K—170K. Including salary, flight pay, per diem and a few bonuses included. 180 day schedule

Now day rate guys can usually pull $1300-$1500 a day if they have 7-10 hours in the seat but that doesn’t happen enough to get you $200K and I don’t like flying 7-10 hour days

I’ve heard of a high time power liner pulling $2500 a day on a Hawk but only because the company was in a massive jam.

The type 1 Fire world breaks down to $800-1,500/day DOE for anyone reputable. Talking to the guys bouncing around picking up extra days as a side hustle seem to be in the $1,000-1,500 range plus expenses.

friends flying 500s in power line that are fully qualified claim to be in the $150-190k a year depending on schedule and operator.

There are two ways to get paid at PJ... have a hawk type with solid construction skills or have good knee pads and work 250+ days a year living in red bluff. They seem to chew up a lot of new long line pilots with low pay and dangled carrots of advancing. Some stick it out, most do not.

daily rate only is a thing of the past. everyone in the industry is doing 100-130 salary and daily rate on top of that. You must be working at air 2 or some weirdo place.

I have worked for AIR2. To my knowledge they don’t have day rate pilots. Summit, Brim, Haverfield, PJ all have day rate people but only guys they have known.

In power line is there anything other than wieirdo?
