So Metro is offering Medflight of Ohio pilots an additional 5k to 7k annuallu to work at MF2, MF3, MF6 and MF8 because they are deemed hard to staff. Does this pay go away once they are staffed for awhile? Do the pilots that have been there for years at these bases get extra pay for no reason? Seems like everone should get a hard to staff bonus these days.

Yes, the pay will go away once the base is fully staffed for a while, which at the HTF bases is never.
Been there for years get pay for no reason? Uuuuhhh, Huh? Everyone at the base gets the extra HTF stipened. If you are trying to indicate that the pilots that have been there for a long time should not get it, then I have words for you. If you are trying to say they should get it, then welcome! Those of us that have been at these bases for years and never left should absolutely get the stipened, we have been picking up extra shifts, covering and working our a $$'s off for years making up the extra. Having that HTF stipened is at least something.

Unless it's part of your base hourly rate it can go away at any time. AMC were known for taking over a program with long term pilots where they would add geo, hard to fill and anything else you want to call it to the base pay. Within a year those stipends would drop off till you had four new low paid pilots. Or three pilots who worked all the overtime they could get to make ends meet.

AMC keeps the Stipend for HTF in place, ( also Pilot House)

you will often find it's the Bases where most if not all Pilots live (like myself Out of State) , or 2 + hour drive from home. Nothing new there this has been the case through my 20 years with 3 company's .

Maybe they should just pay 2.5X to cover those shifts and do away with the HTF pay. Then anyone could benefit from it.

So this acuallt deters the pilots at a HTF base to pick up extra shifts. Why would they if they are getting a 7k bonus.
