EX MIL here.

Just landed an HAA job about two hours from my hometown on a 7/7. Nice to get away from the kids and wife. The lower pay is okay because my retirement makes up the rest. Less paperwork than in the army.

Do you guys like two piece flight suits or onesies? Am I allowed to wear any boots I want or must they be black?

If it's your money buy any boot you like. If the company pays for boots type will be stated in policy manual.

It's no secret that HAA relies on military retirees and your willingness to work OT since your pay is so low.  It's been working for them for years.

Only reason there's a pay bump right now is the airline demand shifting the field a little.

Go get your FW rating and try it out.  NOW is the time to do it.  There has never been such impressive incentive to start that direction.  Starting pay for airlines has increased, sign-on bonus to pay for the pay adjustment or to pay off the final hours you needed to get in the door (150 PIC ASEL), they're paying for most/some of domicile/reserve housing if you live away from your assigned base, new bases are opening up, guaranteed flow (vs guaranteed interview), etc.  It's unreal.  This is not your father's "airline experience"... it's a whole new ballgame.

it is an entirely new ball game, even better than the sixties when jets started opening massive new route possibilities - 707, 727, DC9 etc.
