AMC was in the 90's before Christmas, 100's after the new year, 150's by summer.  Now, the current pilot openings are at 224 across the nation.

Not sure what the other operators are at, but people are VOTING WITH THEIR FEET.

A pilot at my AMC base with no prior EMS experience (and he's been here about 6 months) is going to make $88k starting at AEL.

He gets a $15K bonus after completing INDOC.  He gets $10K retention bonus at end of year one, $10K at end of year two, and $20K if he stays through year three.

How's that more than the competition (especially for an entry level guy)?

Thats a pretty good incentive package I would say.   At least it keeps you out of the bread lines!

The GMR pilot retention bonus is a single $40,000 lump in Jan 2026 for current pilots or a single $40,000 lump after 3.5 years for pilots hired after July 2022. If you leave before the 3rd year of that 3.5 years you get nothing. If you leave in the 3rd year you get $10,000. Stay for 3.5 and get the full $40,000.

I think everyone in EMS is well deserving of at least that  and a much higher base to begin with today despite recent rises. If airline hiring keeps up, that supply curve is going to steepen and companies will have to react with one of two options 1) do what it takes to get more people 2) reduce the numebr of people you need to maintain or improve margins at operating bases you keep.

It's great if your still have a base to work at in those 3 years but that is a hedge which you are now a part of.  I doubt the language includes any proration if they decide to let you go and in ther interim the base wage is it.

Just before the 4 year mark the rule or agreement will change & you'll get nothing. It's Business 101. Geeze you pilots are dumb.

The surprising part is why there are any pilots left at the P, other than for the location.

guess we know their contribution.  @44,000 helicopter pilots were created during the Vietnam War.  Look it up.
