Good luck with that fantasy.
Your lot is not tied to individual negotiation but what the company perceives it HAS to do to obtain and maintain pilot services.
IF pilots could exercise sufficient confidence in potentially conducting a strike for better work conditions and compensation through solidarity they would have a level playing field in the endeavor but short of crisis events we currently see, and nominal union negotiations outside such times, success will not be optimum.
If solidarity (aka trust in action) could be created amongst all those scattered bases and pilots the union could do its job far more effectively.
So, pilots, that's your challenge, how to connect and trust! The union could definitely do far better if you create this; they can't do it for you.

How is a minimum across the board of 14% raise (with no Pilot below $86k) putting you below a new hire?
Either my math doesn't work the same as yours or you didn't catch the wording right.
If 14% doesn't bump you to at least $86k then your new base is $86k, which means you're getting more than a 14% increase.
And $15k retention for 14 months is actually more than $40k for 3 years.
And $25k referral bonus is pretty damn high...
Then again, some people will never be happy no matter what you give them. I for one and pretty damn pleased with what they've put forward - oh and they didn't wait to ratify a contract to do it. I think that says something in itself.
Seems to me the union can focus on a published pay scale, OT rate for 12-14, end the stupid free duty ready thing, and pretty much be done. My $.02 |

Spoke like a true non professional, AMC and the Union have put the crews to senior pilots for years. If you want to stay at your base and make just enough to get by, not get actual par raises, have it.
The truth is, if you think the Union is getting any more pay after this, you are mistaken.
A raise is not just COLA, it's a life style change. I.E- You can afford more, not just maintain.
If you think a pilot with 15 years HAA experience should still be below 100K, either your a miltard with a retirement or a stupid civilian.
If you have 3500-5000 hours and 15 years of HAA experience and you are not making 150K, you are way off.
People like you ruin this industry, low pay, I want to stay home, don't want to sacrifice, i.e- move or be troubled to work hard.
Good Day to you Sir! |

A pilot at my base with no prior EMS experience (and he's been here less than a year) is going to make $88k starting at AEL.
He gets a $15K bonus after completing INDOC. He gets $10K retention bonus at end of year one, $10K at end of year two, and $20K if he stays through year three.
So how is AMC a market leader? How is that competitive? Why should I just "take it and be glad with what I got?"
I've also heard of other guys being offered $92K starting if they have HAA experience.
Also, WHY would your buddy you recommend ($25K is indeed a great bonus) WANT to come to such low pay? Why????
TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE AMC. Good job thinking this one through.
An I'm not a military retiree... so pay matters. Imagine that... |

Just a word of caution to all of you would be ship jumpers from a guy with 41 years civilian, after leaving the Army in 1981 (PHI, RMH, CJ, Keystone and AMC).
I have chased those greener pastures (sometimes out of necessity for pay sometimes for strategy) so I have been there and done that.
If it is not codified in a CBA, the raises and bonuses, etc. are at the discrestion of "the company" and subject to freezes, reductions, elimination, etc. by the bean counters.
At least this 14% raise, I expect, will be the starting point for salary negotiations with Local 109 currently underway.
Remember, with a CBA, "the company" cannot cut your pay/benefits as directed by the bean counters in the future, without it you could very well end up worse off than when you moved (for instance, 1988-1993, RMH, ZERO, zilch, nada as a pay increase, 5 years, I lived it).

funny stuff, i love coming into this troll farm once in awhile when i know the snowflakes are out... watching them cry and fall and claim superiority! always entertaining!! all these posts are funny
lets look logically. 1)this was to stop the loss of pilot while the union contract continues
2)this isn't even the union contract...
3)whatever the union and company agrees to will be on top of
4)the company gave enough to stop the loss but they wont give more than they have to, because that is the new starting point for the union contracts... capitilism boys and girls and trolls

You are so wrong, its actually funny.
If you think the Union is going to get any more on top of the 14%, you are kidding yourself.
They are buying time to wait and see if the economy is going to bounce back.
I have been with AMC for over 15 years, and never once in that time have they raised pay by 14%.
If you think they are getting more, I have beach front property in AZ to sell you. |

My info may be dated but you want to go to the pizza delivery guys flying 30,000 206s whose blades fling off in flight? Where each new location is more methed out and shtty than the last? You go girl.
Another operator being bandied about, I wouldn't work for them for 250k with a 7 on/14 off schedule if the base was next to my house. Do a little research.
8 to 12 year guys get 126-168 hr vacation and 120 hour sick. One company starts you at 40 hour PTO. Enjoy your weekend staycation this year, see you on Monday.
Drive a truck for Wal-Mart. You'll skitter back to Haahaa in 6 months.

is a bit dramatic but I get your point. With 10 years flying civil in 1985 I was at 48k and all went up from there with retirement last year. In today's dollars 48k then would be around 132k now. 86k may in fact not be what it should be but compensation is tied to more than inflation, type flying, plus or minus. |
