I really wish people would do some basic research before posting.
the CASA212 is a fixed gear aircraft. Gear can’t be stuck. Probably had a tire/wheel failure in departure.
Copiliot, who fell out, may have gone aft, lowered the ramp, and tried to check the status of the gear. Probably did not attach safety line and slipped out. |

That model of plane doesn't have suicide doors like the Shorts bros. planes, so he couldn't have fallen out or jumped. |

I'm familiar with the Shorts. How do you think the individual wound up exiting the aircraft?
Honest question. |

Runway on takeoff can easily shear off a main gear. Drifting off the side of the runway and dropping the gear off the side of the runway can do the same. |

My guess would be that the young copilot was making the landing at the 4,200' jumper strip at Raeford, NC. He must have pranged it pretty good and the PIC called for a go-around. As they were doing that, someone must have radioed that they lost the right wheel. Then, enroute to RDU for an emergency landing, the copilot probably went back to assess the damage by laying down as posters have described above. Maybe turbulence caused him to lose his grip and he slid/fell out. Very sad and tragic. Can't imagine how bad that PIC feels right now. Copilot seemed like a nice kid. |
