When the airlines laid everybody off, many rotor guys flooded back to HAA. Nasty, greedy vendors saw this is their extreme good fortune. They had more applicants than jobs and they could low ball depsperate people with families to support.
Conisdering that these pilots would be directly exposed to pathogens and the COVID virus during the global pandemic criis, this was a move of extreme, pompous arroagance. Now the job maret is booming again for pilots, many guys are leaving the decrepid HAA industry to more potentially prosperous and safer roles...NEVER to return to HAA.
The boffins at GMR wish to continue their success, so they have increased pay massively to retain skilled and competent pilots through bonuses and rentention awards - to try and stop the mass exodus.
GMR is the way forward folks. Others will have to step it up or die. Most people have some element of loyalty within their work ethic, but loyalty doesn't pay the mortage.
Over. |

to say "brillant minds at GMR" you lost the credibility of the post....the point is they need spots to fill quickly...so show a increase in pay/beneifts and you see a increase of applications....yes, other companies will follow along...I
F YOU SERIOUSLY DON'T THINK THAT AMC, GMR,PHI, METRO Presidents of those companies don't talk to each other you are foolish.... |

It's just business. Other companies will follow GMR's lead and pay will equalize, stay the same for a few years till the next shortage and repeat. This time GMR is out front, in the past it was AMC or PHI. Tune in seven to ten years time to see which company steps out first then. |

The only things AMC has ever 'lead' is bad training, hostile management, and fatal accidents. |

In the corporate world, is one way. Companies want loyalty, but offer none in return. Witness base closure procedures. |

Agree MT stated they never close bases. In reality they gave the crews less than 1 hour the PTW base is closed they supplied a company pilot to fly the members back to PTW, but plan on charging for the flight. For future pilots think about base closre and MT honest statements |

Brilliant? GMR's significant bumps in pay are mainly incentives and not salaries. Incentives are easily turned off after a market correction. Enjoy them whilst they are there. I feel keeping an eye on the no surprises act status is a good idea and perhaps more import to consider when making career moves. GMR's, and other HAA subscription based programs, are in jeopardy. They will, more than likely, be unable to sustain the pilot and mechanic pay increases when the act passes. Nobody knows the final outcome as the act is still in play. As a fellow HAA pilot, I am concerned that the company I work for has a business model that will survive the act's fallout. The HAA industry is overly saturated. The majority of revenue comes from Medicaid. Subscription based HAA business models, like GMR's, will be in trouble...goodbye incentives. |

let an extinction event occur. Merely look at history and your fears will be gone (or more likely, your anger will go off the chart because of your hate for the industry). |

Agreed. Not hate. Love the pilot side, not the business side. History tells us a need will continue. However, as most know, there are way too many HAA providers/aircraft chasing the insurance and Medicaid dollars. Traditional programs vs. Non-traditional. We shall see. Interesting times.

As soon as the market changes in the other direction those pilots may well be in for either a pay decrease or very very very small increases year over year. If they did it once, they'll do it again. |
