Any suggestions for companies (HAA, Utility, anywhere) that have some above average benefits? Seems like plenty offer health insurance, but often times not much else, or you end paying for the majority of the premium for a family out of pocket. I would imagine the airlines are good, but I'm yet to find a heli company that really pays for a lot.

I'm at a GMR company. You are correct that most major airlines and charter services have a much better benefits package (YMMV at the regionals and LCCs). But compared to my acquaintances in other lines of work/careers, GMRs is pretty solid. They have have full compliment of health, dental, disability, life insurance etc. The premiums aren't the worst out there, and it's pretty decent coverage. It's not airline great, but it's decent compared to most of what's out there.

Metro aviation has a 50% for 7% 401k

Completely free healthcare for pilots and their family members (If the family member doesn't have their own)

$1,000,000 life insurance for on duty

Loss of medical

etc... I think they are pretty descent.

It's 75% of 7% for the 401k matching for Metro. And consistent 4% annual raises (even more than that this year).

Thank you and fairly true about Metro

However I have always wondered this. I agree Metro takes nothing out for medical and they promote that their medical is free, but if you elect not to take the medical benifit you are paid more by an additional amount every month.
So is it really free or just smoke and mirrors of doing it a different way.
Not complaining but if you make more money by not taking it it's not free.

Nothing is free. Everything is budgeted for. Look at it that way.
