A mix of people who:

-Planning to leave for the airlines/fixed wing
-Will move to wherever and for whatever company as long as it pay more
-Are at an AMC base and close to GMR and will switch there.
-Live right next to an AMC base and won't switch to something farther for more pay
-Are planning to retire in the next few years and don't want to change companies/move

Then you have to consider the people who were possibly going to apply to AMC but now will go with GMR.

Drawing it out for their own pockets of someone is getting paid.  just sayin that some union presidents and VP don't get paid anything or salary in Representing the employees. kind of like a Lawyer billing their clients for every single dime email

I think they get some type of salary or payment but it's fixed, so they don't get paid hourly for more negotiating work.

Probably just for hotels and travels, unless they're doing it over Zoom or Skype or something.

Every officer in every MEC, including stewards, get ZERO.   They might get reimbursed for hotel and travel expenses, but do not earn a penny for a salary/stipend/wage.

Straight from the ALPA Constitution:

SECTION 9 - OFFICERS

A. Each Master Executive Council shall have the following elected officers: a Chair, a Vice Chair and a Secretary-Treasurer or a Secretary and a Treasurer if such option is chosen under subparagraphA(1) below.

(1) On an airline having two (2) or more Local Councils or an airline having one (1) Local Council subject to Article III, Section 1C, the Master Executive Council may elect, by majority vote at a meeting held at least thirty (30) days prior to an election for the office of Secretary-Treasurer, to establish separate elected offices of Secretary and Treasurer. A Master Executive Council which elects to establish such separate offices of Secretary and Treasurer shall not recombine such offices into a single office of Secretary-Treasurer except at a meeting held at least thirty (30) days prior to an election for the offices of Secretary and Treasurer. Any action taken by a Master Executive Council to separate or recombine such offices shall be reported in writing by the Master Chair to the Vice President Administration/Secretary within ten (10) days.

B. There shall be no salary in connection with any office of a Master Executive Council

... line trip, they get their line guarentee, and ALPA reinburses the loss to the company.   It's called Flight Pay Loss.   They are not earning any salary, they are being compensated for the salary they were gurarenteed.

Nobody on the MEC works 100% for the union, giving up their flying job.   They are full time pilots, who occasionally work for the union and get Flight Pay Loss to keep the same salary they normally earn:

SECTION 5 – PRINCIPLES FOR COMPENSATION POLICY Flight pay loss, in terms of what an officer, representative or member could earn pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement if engaged in line flying, shall continue to be a part of compensation policy under Sections 2 through 4 above. The Board of Directors or Executive Board may further establish policy which recognizes the need for other methods of fair and equitable compensation and days off for officers, representatives and members assigned to part time or full time duty with the Association

Unlike the OPEIU and it's local 109, who earn salaries over and above their earnings every month, regardless of their schedule, approved soley by the board itself after the union imposed a change in the Constitution during trusteeship REMOVING membership ratification of such payments!

You can't sit on the MEC if you quit the company the union sits against.   Your officership ends the moment you resign as you are no longer a part of the class and craft.

What a concept!
