Do not look at ground between your feet
Force concentration to be directed well out to front and peripheral to sides
Keep 'er coming down when it wants to hang up on ground cushion
Use Cyclic to keep skids level and to stay over point of desired touchdown
Use collective to keep 'er comin down
Use pedals to prevent nose rotating left or right
AND Have fun.... do not freeze up with death grip on controls |

FORGET ABOUT LANDING!
Hold the helicopter stationery, slowly reduce power initiating and maintaining that stationary position.
Keep doing that until your collective bottoms out.
Never flew a helo that that didn't work.
Slow! The attitude will change at whichever skid tip/heel touches first, but the cyclic will hold it stationary. |

Maybe he needs the practice and he is doing it on your dime. For some fun, when he takes control you roll the throttle off and see what happens. You could always ask for a new cfi.

Forget helicopters. Find a fixed wing flight school and never look back.
If you're learning to fly for recreational purposes, the risk and cost aren't worth it. You (and your friends / family) will be much safer in a plane, and be able to fly far more often. If you really want to be adventurous, get into flying seaplanes / bush planes.
If your goal is to do this professionally, run away. The helicopter industry is a dumpster fire of corporations that pay garbage and don't give a crap about you. Utility, GOM, HAA, international... it all sucks and is only getting worse year after year. |

Don't drift. But if you're gonna drift, drift forward and down NEVER backwards or sideward. But do your best to not drift. |
