Msg ID: 2734436 How to understand AMC CBA Negotiations +4/-0
Author:Ex-AMCer

Certain discussions took place involving a full and frank exchange of views, out of which there arose a series of proposals which, on further examination, proved to indicate certain promising lines of enquiry which, when persued, lead to the realization that alternative courses of action, might in fact, in certain circumstances, be susceptible of discrete modification leading to a reappraisal of the original areas of difference and pointing the way to encouraging possibilities of compromise and cooperation which, if bilaterally implemented with appropriate give and take, on both sides, might, if the climate were conducive, have a reasonable possibility, at the end of the day, leading, rightly or wrongly, to a mutually satisfactory resolution.

There, got it now?

The situation was clarified in the TPS reports.  Did you not get the memo?

A mediator has NO authority to force either party to accept/reject proposals, nor do they have the authority to ratify a contract or put one out to vote. They simply schedule dates and locations to meet and nothing more. Something that the parties could do, much faster by the way, if they are WILLING and want resolution. The mediator doesn't even have the authority to require a party to talk to exchange proposals, so stop with your silliness. You have zero clue!

why the QUICKEST and fairest way to negotiate is with the mediator from the start. They can schedule, assign homework, sanction bad faith tactics, and get both parties (which includes the pilot's who initiated this whole process) to a conclusion. I'm really nuch more knowledgeable about this than you might think!

down the company's offer. Takes two to tango, any you only want it your way. Mediator is the neutral disinterested 3rd party referee, who will take the negotiations to their conclusion the QUICKEST and FAIREST way possible. Especially when the union won't willing agree quicly to the company's offerings.

Don't know where you get your info, but you are wrong. According to both the company and union, the company has not made any proposals and refuse to until they have an NMB mediator present....
