My customer in Alabama informed me that I needed to get qualified by this outfit. I heard its really PJ helicopters from the West Coast. Has anyone been thru their qualification process and have any insight? I assume they have POI and PMI inspectors? Are they legit in their inspections and knowledge? |

Quanta is actually a huge power line company that diverged into everything related including owning a few helicopter companies.
Last I knew they all operate under individual certificates |

Quanta has their own audit team. They come to your facility and go through the pilot records and maintenance records. They take two days generally. Quanta owns not only a few helicopter companies but drilling and foundation companies. A list of company's that are under their umbrella can be found on the Quanta web site. |

I’ll assume you’ve not done power line work for large companies? Several of the big power providers have set their own standards for subcontractors to be allowed to work on their systems.
Also big contractors like Quanta will also have a standard. Some places have internal auditors some use recognized auditing companies.
Getting qualified has very little to do with the FAA side of things, more about pilot qualification for the work sought. Maintenance, record keeping, documentation of all kinds of stuff like ropes, rigging, etc right down to how and where you store engine oil.
Typically for a single machine operation with one or two pilots it won’t be too terrible |

Between Haverfail, PJ, and Winco, they have killed more airmen and linemen than I care to think about.
