I'm telling you guys, there are A LOT of non-flying (and many times STILL in aviation) jobs out there that pay WAY better, you get a Mon-Fri schedule (no more missing every other weekend with the fam), and better benefits.  THAT's better quality of life.

Throw your resume out there and you'll be surprised.  Many industry jobs want a former pilot, your attention to detail, your ability to analyze things, follow rules, be discplined, etc.

If everyone will vote with their feet, the industry will feel the pain and raise pay/bennies.  Otherwise they'll give you a few extra nickels and feel justified that they met your expectations.

Don't worry; they'll take you back.  Even if you're uncurrent after being away a few years.

It's worth it.  Find something else and come back when they wake up.

I perfer the 7/7 schedule. I spend 7 uniteruppted days with family and see them more than most do on my week of nights and a little less on my 7 day shifts, so not jumping ship just yet. However I may be swayed if you give some examples of available jobs you speak of. (From acivilian trained guy with an ATPH/CFII and no other type of work experience).

Get on LinkedIn and type "aviation" in the search window; then don't sell yourself short about if you're "qualified" for many of the jobs.  The basic skills you gain if you've been in the aviation industry are more than enough to get you hired in about 50% of the various "aviation" non-flying jobs.
