We keep hearing how companies with pilot unions suck since you have t to pay a percentage of your salary to the union. What have pilots of non union companies done to get annual increases etc. Do you have a forum to discuss proposals, or is it a wait and see what bone management throws out every few years. From my seat it seems that unions set the standard. Prove me wrong.

Helicopter unions are nothing but a circus act.

The only union worth anything is the airline union. You are just an EMS chump fighting for scraps paying useless dues you THINK get you something. LFN in the PNW, non union, and I guarantee making more than you union idiots. I watched for years Air Methods unions steal money and do absolutely nothing to increase salaries, watched the double standards.

Not even close bud.  LFN and other non union companies are far better than union companies.

Pilots have no idea what it took to get helicopter operators unionized and how much was gained by doing so.

That said there's no arguing unions supporting helicopter operations have little leverage due to the pilot populations having very little solidarity due to geographic dispersion of bases.  Pilots cannot gain the required sense of comfort in collectively working as one unit so things like strikes cannot be advantaged.

The union representation is ham strung very seriously by this.  Overcome this obstacle and the future might be brighter.

They've been doing that since the first successful union came to be.  Rough go to get the raises, and lengthy timelines, but they did far more good than otherwise.  Don't believe it?  Do your homework.

investigate what it was to be a pilot in the helicopter industry during the inflation of the 70s and 80s.

Inflation up to 19%, our mortgage was 15%, etc.
