Maroon scotch brite does the job kids. Especially on the windows! Bugs come right off.

I like to do it first thing in the morning with dew on the screen. Bugs are soft then.

and a product called PRIST Acrylic, Plastic and Glass Cleaner (not the fuel additive) is best I've found.  Not sure exactly if it applies to Lexan screens but that's probably under Acrylic.

Had an idiot Navy pilot constantly have a go on a BK windscreen with all sorts of 'solutions'.  Took awhile to get his head out of his ash but being offered the 'door or else' he decided his superior military knowledge and practice had to be amended.  Retired, yes, Captain.  Tough to believe.

Have someone else do it. 

Consult the FM for approved method and chemicals.

Flying through a rainstorm works really good if you can keep it right side up for a minute or two.Worked good when I flew offshore.The guys I flew all the time didn’t care.

To clean the windscreens and found a few bee strikes, then all of a sudden, there were fish guts all over the canopy.

Jet fuel amd a red shop rag works wonders. 

I'm telling you; this stuff is the bomb.  

Davies is an aircraft plexiglass cleaner that is a spray foam that soaks bugs better than Plexus/210/etc and wipes off VERY clean (no need to buff out streaks).  You may need to flip the rag over to the dry side after a light scrub to get the soaked bugs up, but that's it. FAST, easy, and not much elbow grease needed.

Wash Wax All is for both windows and aircraft paint.  It's a clear spray on wax/cleaner.  You can use it instead of the Davies for the windows altogether but the Davies just works better.  With the Wash Wax All on the windows it does a good job, but doesn't soak up the bugs as good as Davies and makes a light streak that will definitely need the clean side of the rag every time as it's so liquidy and doesn't evaporate off like the Davies.  Easy to use, j  For the rest of the aircraft, the spray is great at getting bugs, dust, dirt, light exhaust, oil, etc. It's not a spray on, leave it, and buff out.  It's just spray and wipe off and your bird is shiny again.

We only wash our aircraft maybe once a month (the mechanic will sometimes wash the tailboom an additional time or two) and we just use the Wash Wax All pretty much every day for a quick, light wipe-down on places that need it.  Out of our company's aircraft in our region everyone comments on how shiny our bird is.  

I'm telling you.  I've been at a base where we had to wash the bird every day hitch.  We only had Plexus and a brown type wax that you had to buff off (which was MISERABLE along the rivet points around tailboom, etc.).  

Again, these two products are THE BOMB

I found Windex does a totally great job

Watered down white vinegar in a spray bottle, the acid burns those little suckers right off

Write it up in the logbook.You can’t depart with an open write up so the mechanic has to clear it.

The base mechanic should do that before you come in for your pre-flight. It's part of thier job and if you take pride in your aircraft that should be a no issue .

The best way of getting bugs off a windscreen is find a Trump follower. They like licking butts so get them to lick the windscreen like they would lick Donnie's butt. Can't wait to see that man in a prison suit! Ooorah!
