If you're running out of parts quit replacing them. They build in a fudge factor in for them anyway.

in '73 lost a friend because the operator would not comply with main rotor transmission overhaul TBOs.
Don't fool around with any of this stuff. The parts are not engineered to last, say, 50% longer, they are generally sorted to handle, (again) say, 50% more stress and strain within its promulgated service life. |

USFS will take any 47 they can get their hands on. Lots of work for that aircraft. The 64's might want to think about what they are going to do to keep up. The 64's will still dominate the congested area heavy lift but fire is quickly going to the 47. |

The simple answer to why the 47 will choke off the 64 over time is fuel burn. The S64 burns about 100 gallons per hour more than the CH47 while delivering a bit less water per hour. The S64 is an incredible platform, but can't keep up with newer tech... |
