I don't think you're allowed to call Japanese pilots that anymore.

Helicopter Crash at Essex County Airport in Fairfield Injures Pilot | West Essex, NJ News TAPinto

Friends at the field confirm what the witness in the link stated that the aircraft began to yaw and spin at only 150' before coming down hard.  Engine was running after the crash, there is a video out there of it as the blades hit the ground and come apart.  I may not be a fan of Zip but having a potential mechanical failure of the TR at low airspeed and altitude is not a fun experience.  He at least kept it upright and hit skids down but it was very hard.  Hoping the best for the pilot as we never want to see that happen, everyone up here in NY/NJ knows each other.

ADSB data shows it was on landing, not takeoff.  Departed CDW heading to the city but turned around 10 miles to the east and came back to the airport, almost made it before something finally gave up in the tail.

It's not what happens in the air, its how the pilot lands it after that.  Accidents happen upon landing, impact with the ground.  Exception, in flight break up.

Duh!

I beg to differ on the crashworthyness of the H500, The egg held together well after contact with terra firma better I might add than me, however I'm still hear to talk about it.

The whole thing about the 500 being better in a crash is a myth perpetuated by people just repeating hangar talk.

Sounds like he turned around and came back, said he "may need the runway".  Sounds like something mechanical.
