Management doesn't like to see mechanics and pilots earning good money.  Now, it's tax equalization.

There's also a group of employees down there who text & email management every day of a "play by play movement" of what you and others are doing.  That all started with the Bristreaux Legacy Law Suit Pilot who was very jealous of a few and jeolous of his former mistress THE Multipas Chick Pilot.  His social reject personality was amplified with Jake The SAR Snake who needed an SOP "of everything" on how he was suppose to live his life down there to include when to eat lunch & go to the bathroom.  He had a brain hemorrhage everytime pilots and mechanics went somewhere unsupervised.  A real îdiot who thought he was still in a camp in the Middle East behind barbed wire, a fence, a 40' high wall with a moat, surrounded by land mines, and 100 heavily armed guards protecting him.... Lots of fun down there but that all ended because of a few who screamed at management "we are going to lose the contract" because some knew how to enjoy themselves on their off time.  Now, you can't move or go anywhere on your own because YOU are going to lose the contract for the company.

Sure.  We hired 4 guys from Columbia.  They aren't getting the US wage rate, but it's "competitive" for their home country wage.

If you want to go down, hire in the US, and ask to go.  It's about 20k a year more than the US, and they provide all travel from home. Before tax for step 10 is around 140k as a captain. 120k for step 3.
