Mercy Flight out of Batavia just crashed. Rumors are pilot and a Bell rep on board. Looks like training flight with lots of pattern work before going north of the base to practice, what looks like on ADSB as VRS. First time they enter and recover, second time they did not.

Yes go to ADS-B Exchange - tracking 10152 aircraft (adsbexchange.com) and search N507TJ, history and go to today. Click on the part of the track as they start to leave the traffic pattern to the northeast. Click 1X and watch it play while watching airspeed, altitude and rate of climb/descent. It will be clear that they are climbing, leveling out and slowing down to almost zero before a rate of descent starts, airspeed stays low, rate of descent will hit 2688 feet per minute as they fly out of it. They orbit and climb back up and try again, second time the recovery goes poorly. Elevation in that area is 800' and they reach about 2400' for the second attempt so only appx 1500-1600' feet agl for the entry. |

Could the tail have been chopped off by hitting power lines during the descent? I thought they came through power lines on the way down... |
