It's a great trick. Make more money.... A 9/5 schedule with two days OT. It hurts the line pilots. Funny how a company watching what it spends, pays it's line guys so little, then highers pool pilots and pay for hotel, rental car, per diem, etc.

better to pay to have a pool pilot out there, for 7 days and pay for Hotel/Per Diem/Car rental instead of having a base OOS wouldn't you say...the reason they are out there is because NO ONE picked up the hitch for a week or longer....cheaper than loosing flights unless you have some other Magical Mathematical explanation....plus Pools don't get paid any different than what a regular Line Pilot filling in and traveling on their time off get the same...OT/Hotel/Per Diem/Car rental...

yeah you get OT for travling BUT you also loose 2 days off as well on your sched...Who would do it if you had to travel on your time off and not get exfra for it moron.....

Ok I will type slow so you understand.

If you are paying for travel (OT), Hotel, Per Diem (food), and Gas.  Then the pilots at the base level that are not Pool Pilots get paid less.

The point was being put forward that if AMC paid its line pilots the right amount you don't need pool pilots.

Schedule- 7/7 is day for day. If the schedule requires you to travel on your off time, its not off time. Period.

You are now not working day for day and you really aren't making more money for a 7/7 because its not a 7/7 its a 9/5.  That really is one of the worst schedules.

And a little help with making an argument. Don't name call, back up your position with facts not opinion.

Have a nice day.

yeah, your sched will be 9 on and 5 off.....you get paid to travel on your Day off before there and day after shift....Per Diem, Airline, Hotel and Car Rental (like all companies pay for). Odds are that whatever they train you in, you will be stuck at that base or region for awhile till the hire someone...The good is that youll know that area for awhile especially in a program with 4-5 aircraft...

It isn't the life for everyone....you live out of suitcase and hotel....the good part is that you aren't part of the base or Drama associated with it, and if there are issues, you can request to leave. Also if a position opens up full time somewhere in the country, you can bid on it and good chance you will get it, since you aren't held to a MSR.....i think AMC has anywhere between 120-130 Pool Pilots filling slots....

Thanks for the great post. Are those two travel days each paid as a full OT shift, OT for actual travel time, or some other policy?

The position also pays a 10% stipend.

To walk into a base with a crew you don't know and they don't you.  If you have good EMS experiance, it's easier to do.  But if you are right off the street and trying to do this job, without making a bunch of people mad, good luck.

Also, isn't it funny that if you get assigned to the base you have this long, drawn out orientation requirement.  But if you're filling it, they basically throw you the keys and say good luck.
