Been seeing a lot of recent videos about hunting hogs from a helicopter in Texas lately (with a machine gun, no less). I thought that hunting from an aircraft was illegal...?

One of them is advertising a hog hunt from a Blackhawk. Not sure how they're getting around paying passengers in restricted aircraft but they're doing it. |

Restricted aircraft can be used for animal capture or control. Shooters are then required crew. |

Hogs are not "game," so you are not "hunting" them. You are shooting/eradicating a nuisance species. |

In Texas since they are nuisance feral animal they are not considered “game”.
You can kill them 24/7 hunting them day or night, from the ground or air, using dogs, baited sites or even trapping. The only no-no is releasing a trapped pig, you gotta kill it. Unlike game you do not have to harvest the meat. You can even sell live trapped pigs to licensed commercial processors for profit. Some local jurisdictions will pay a bounty if you’re looking for beer money, so lock & load. BTW, since its Texas you can even use one of those “scary” black guns with a 30 round magazine…… |

bs lawsuit.
"Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Game Wardens strive to protect our states natural resources.”
Since an Aoudad or Barbary Sheep is not indigenous to the Great state of Texas and is a species of caprine native to rocky mountains in North Africa.
I would have lawyered up and told them where they can go F themselves. That animal was on private property probably a hunting club that imports wildlife specifically for trophy hunts. And there's no law about imported game on private property being shot from the air. |

It's more sporting IMO anyway. Takes great skill to target a shot from a moving ariel vehicle as opposed to sitting in a stand.
Just ask a Door gunner......u just don't lead'em so much |

Their ruling also states that as you take off with ammo and land having used it you've delivered a cargo

And you consume during flight, and never gets delivered can't meet any definition of cargo. If it did, refreshments, snacks, drinks, fuel, oil, and other consumables would meet the definition. |
