those things were only accomplished because of you. Yeager was an exceptional pilot, but also a shameless self-promoter. The guy had a huge pair....but the sound barrier would have been broken without him. If you read his autobiography he still comes off as somewhat an a**hole, and that's him writing about himself. I would not want to fly anything that he had flown the day before. YMMV |

Flirted with Mach 1, they came back with a tattered aircraft. That's if they came back at all. There were no civilian pilots who would dare challenge Mach 1. And a lot of military pilots were terrified of it too. |
