The Europeans stamp out new models like crazy and we're still waiting on the 525 after 10 years from Bell, Sikorsky has nothing, all MD does is convert old helicopters and Robinson keeps cranking out the same old death traps. Here's an H160, for example.

What does it all mean Basil?

I'll break it down for ya.

Ambition. The lack there of.....and dwindling Ambition in todays males.  Less and Less are going for the core degrees that build society.

  • Engineering: 80 per cent.
  • Computing: 79.92 per cent.
  • Maths: 62.66 per cent.
  • Architecture: 61.9 per cent.

Will women pick up the slack and enter these fields?
Doubtful.

Why are men not going to college in the numbers they once did.?

Ambition.

No drive to do so.

Mainly.

And Women are to blame.

Today's men realize they probably won't succeed with women and choose the "why bother"  attitude.

90% of the women out there are sleeping with only the Top 10% of Men.  Chads and Tyrone get all the ladies use them then discard them.

The average guy does not stand a chance in the dating pool.  Low sexual market value equals 30 year old virgin males and they just as soon work at McDonalds and live in mom's basement than further educate themselves for what?  A better job?  For why?  To attract a left over Alpha widow resentful of the fact she had to settle with a Beta provider when she thinks she deserves so much better and then Divorce r a p e s him  a few years down the road after she's gotten tired of his boring Lays?

No, most guys are not playing the game any more.  That's why industry that need engineers and heavy math and science fields are beginning to struggle to find qualified applicants.  There are none.  Not as many as when Gen x'ers were coming out of school.  Yes I'm a Gen x'er.  And in 4 more years I'll also be exiting the job market and taking my millions with me away from uncle sam's welfare cash grab.  12 full years before standard retirement age.

The west is doomed.  Enjoy the decline folks.  It's gonna be an interesting show.

This doesn't change the results and there is plenty of support for the tech/aviation industy to promote exports.

Subsidies take many forms - look at exim.gov or just google Bell Helicopter or Boeing exim funding to see how many hundreds of millions have been provided through exim loan guarantees with extremely favorable terms to see how the US supports manufacturers. The funding is there but you have to have something that you can export and/or a more navigable path to funding access.

You could always export climate change I suppose - we seem to have a handle on that.

Airbus is a government agency. It's a conflict of interest if ever I saw one. It takes months if not years to get certification done on a single part here. There they can get it done in hours.

Have you ever seen an H160 in the flesh? No? Because they're like Playboy center-folds, scarce on the real-world ground.

Besides Russia, which European military have a helicopter that compares to the Apache, in widespread use?

Is the Blackhawk replacement going to be an affordable, expendable aircraft in combat? 47% of UH-1 models A thru H deployed to that 'crazy Asian War' were lost. I will allow that some of those 'lost' were probably recovered and returned to service. I am kinda suspicious of government figures in that war and all operations since.

We can argue about the Blackhawk's European equivalent, but that design is almost old enough to qualify as a senior citizen. I'm not slamming the UH 60. Like the Huey, it was a design that met the needs of the moment, and still works in some scenarios.

Modern combat has advanced a great deal. I was never tracked and fired on by antiaircraft or MANPADs. But I was in IV Corps, approx. 100 miles from Cambodia at the longest, operating between 500 and 580 miles from the DMZ. What was used against friendlies there was stolen from US supply depots or the South Vietnamese military- which I flew with, occasionally.

to look at education, healthcare, crime, gun violence etc.  It has been open season on the middle class by the rich and poor for 50 years now, and it appears it ain't turning out too well.  That's the primary problem.
