If I need to drive more than 300+ miles a day then I wouldn't use an electric vehicle. However, my commute is 4 miles each way, so...

If the source of the electricity to charge the electric vehicle is not "green", the electric vehicle is not "green".  If the vehicle is charged by electricity from a power plant that burns coal to generate electricity, carbon emmissions are not being reduced.
