Which one of the major operators is going to be the first to be the "leader" and bump those salaries up for everyone across the board in their respective company?  Massive shortges at almost every operator. and getting worse daily.  The airlines are sucking up talent faster than greased lightning.  Barely any newbies entering the pipeline for helicopters.  Whoever is first to a new standard of GOOD pay will be the one who thrives in this new world.  Thems the facts.

Just announced this week base pay raise, increase in line qual pay, licence premium, and shift diff pay, and...top out time is 6 years. With that said, we are hiring all that are worthy. As an added bonus, they are paying double time and give profit sharing. Why settle for 1990's dead-end pay scales at a helicopter company?

almost 50 years in helicopters and hated my brief fixed wing boredom but considering how little progress the helicopter industry has made looking at the airlines should cross a lot of heli pilot minds.

Maybe this will be the reason operators close bases and we get down to the number of bases needed instead of competitors sitting on top of each other!

is just treading water considering our recent cost-of-living/inflation rates. anything less isn't a raise at all.

and this doesn't even take into account the ongoing supply/demand situation in HEMS.

something's gotta give.

That's going to be your answer.  MAYBE a 5% raise but as the above post stated... that only covers inflation (actually, it doesn't).

They'll just close less productive bases.  No more helicopter or medcrew shortage.  It all evens out and doesn't cost them an added cent.

Heck, the HAA operator out of Colorado is investing in drones and a fancy technology "experience center" to market themselves.  TONS of money dropped there.  Think they want to give that to the pilots?  They still have TONS of inefficient aircraft (and non-standardized at that)... and they don't always think through spares, sister base coverage, etc.  Their managers make BANK in bonuses.  Think they want to give any extra to the pilots?

I'm telling you; expect another round of 18+ base closures like they did in fall of 2018 and spring of 2019.  That's 72 less pilot positions (those guys would then fill the "national pool pilots" to cover any openings).

You aren't getting a raise.  Go get your fixed wing ratings during your off weeks and make the transition (even if it's not to the airlines... tons of other FW operators are hiring like crazy and are actually going to be forced to increase their starting pays).

If you're less than 45 years old IT'S TOTALLY WORTH IT.  Make the jump.

but the pilots won't stay in the industry.  Pilots that leave are certainly not going to recommend to anyone to get in to helicopters.  Shortage continues.

All salaries in the industry are based on what AMC does with the union.  Then all the others will follow
