My Tesla cost me .25kwh/mi to "refuel" I pay .07 per kwh. my annual cost to fuel 20k mi is about $350.

if I was filling a car that gets 30mpg, which is generous today, the same amount of miles would cost me over $2600 in gas.

my electric car saves me $200/mo in fuel or about $12k over 5 years. Its not for everyone, but I love the acceleration and handling. Way more fun than any $40k car I've driven.

cool dude.  In seven years when you need a new battery pack that is more expensive than the value of the hull ya'll have fun with that!!     Hybrids are the best choice, still battery pack replacements are generally not worth the choice.

Have you ammortized the cost of the resources needed to provide your $.07 cost per kilowatt.  Which I think is a bogus mumber.

mortgage rate started at 14%, gas rationing '73-74, gas $5.45 in today's dollars.  Together we'll all get through this.  Stick together, don't waste anything.

about at the wrong time.  The Vietnam War inflation finally caught up to his administration, not to mention a whole host of other things.  He was a micro manager, didn't let things fly on their own.

Fuel is much more of a necessity than the luxury expenditures you mention. Our society traditionally is used to necessities being inexpensive relatively, and maximizing disposable income for luxury or convenience.
