The biggest issue with Metro is hardly the Vacation deal.  It's the DO and some of the Regional Managers.  It's astonishing how harsh they are.  Keep looking.  Metro is not what it once was.

With wanted to fly HEMS, thinking it would be a dream job after working tours and spraying in 44s. He had just over 2,000 hours, but no turbine time. Metro took him, and about 2 years later, he left. Directives like having CTS done before hire date soured him on Metro.

5 days is not a week for pilots working 7/7 ... gotta wait til your 5th year before you actually get a week

Clearly, none of you actually work at METRO. The vacation policy had a complete overhaul for the better.

But you still have to wait until your fifth year to be able to accrue an actual week of vacation.  The new policy allows some rollover and helps the first year, but don't be fooled.  Metro has given you nothing.

As the above poster has said, Metro has done a complete overhaul of their vacation policy and I personally have never needed 5 days on the old policy I always ended with selling some back.

There is always someone willing to trade, so you trade 2 days with someone, take your 5 days and then blam! 3 Weeks off, oh it's so rough!

Grab some overtime throughout your first year. Take a week off without pay. Go on your vacation. Stop chewing bubblegum and have your boyfriend buy you a bottle of Kentucky bourbon.

without incentive or GEO pay added in there as a bonus...as the above poster said, experience or not, everyone is around $75k-$80k a year to start....if they throw in a sign on they will....

Metro has two sides. They have nationwide Part 135 programs, and a Part 145 operation in Shreveport.  The same HR policies cover both sides.  The vacation and salary they offer is decent for the folks that live and work in Shreveport, and a lot of the Part 145 side people stay around awhile, eventually earning decent vacation before they retire, are fired, or are laid off.  The result is that folks hired by Metro have to deal with Shreveport HR standards even though the majority of them are not in Shreveport.

Good luck using the vacation you earn. They wont approve it until your shifts are covered.

of story, choose ur employer carefully.

Main problem the head sheds have is not understanding how arrogant and off-putting theit regional and local management can be.  Very very poor oversight throughout the ndustry!!!
