Who besides timberline, heliqwest, columbia, and aircrane still log in the US? Whatever happened to the guys all logging with the Hueys and 214s? Conners logging or something to that nature? |

Bell's typical response is "We have a newer more reliable platform we would loive to sell you." Considering many frames are 50+, it bodes similar to those who used the Cobra for external ops. You just don't have enough money to pay some engineer off at Bell and say these are as good as someothing off the shelf.
Bell, imo, should roll out a bare bones UH-1/205. VFR only no ALT Hold, no SAS,... They have the jigs. |

Well if you know the difference between the military Huey's and the civilian 205As etc etc you would know there's a ton of difference between them. I worked for companies that had UH-1Fs and Ls as well as D and Hs. We had one crash due to losing the hydraulics, that doesn't happen on the civilian TCd machines as they have two systems. Maybe for a reason. |

Hippies and enviro types are what happened. For North California and Oregon it started 30 years ago with spotted owl nonsense. Little by little it’s just to expensive to heli log or most other kinds of logging.
Coincidently California and Oregon seem to have enormous forest fires every year. |

Croman has been helicopter logging for 30 or 40 years, they use 10 61's and 3 SH3's, they used to have a Lama, but now 3 206's |
