Hearing from my friends at ProMedica a merger is in place with MetroHealth flight program.
They will be switching to 145's but until they get new (used) aircraft will they fly dual pilot EC135 ?

That would be a first I believe at least in the US.
Medics jobs may be in jepordy unless they switch over to only working ground.

Shake up over at St V's also I wonder if they knew of this and were working on a response.

so what is your point?   good luck on 135 dual pilot....flying with 5 on it and power..lol...it has issues with just 3 onboard....you won't be doing much IFR unless you are making stops along the way for fuel...

Do they both have the same vendor or is it a change? Who has/had the contract?

Both are currently under their own contracts with Metro Aviation and will be going together under one contract still with Metro.

St. V's is under their own Part 135

enough to know that putting 4 crew members and a stout midwesterner in a light twin is a tough task.

In my experience, girth and height are bigger issues than weight, even in Squirrels. I could reduce weight much easier than I could expand the cabin, aside from removing seats.

The Atlanta Falcons training camp was 3 minutes from my base, and we did a PR to show them how to help load a team mate. There weren't a half-dozen players we could have stuffed into the aircraft on the stretcher.

"would you show a football player how to load a patient. You wouldn't."

But you're right, the team wouldn't want expensive talent at risk of an injury loading the patient.

Maybe coaches or whatever staff was on hand would load. But 6'4" 300+ lbs of trained muscle were welcome, especially when all we had has wheeled stretchers and tracks.

I wasn't particular, I knew we would never be transporting- those guys were freakin' huge, especially upper body.

and medical specialists, family members on occasion. Not a good choice at any time, but it wasn't unusual or atypical.

Best flight I ever took was with a guy who flew "The Hump" in WW2. He was not used to being at a couple thousand feet, enjoyed the scenery of the Blue Ridge.

"On occasion" is the point here. Acadian flew two pilots with one medic. PTN/MH will fly two pilots and two med crew in the 135. I'm sure they'll figure it out, but it does sound challenging at times.

I too have "occasionally" flown 5 or 6 people in a 135 or 109 or 206L4. But the point was that EVERY time they will have 5 people in there on a patient flight.

No reason for you to puff out your chest and attack my experience when you just aren't understanding the point.
