An EC135 basically falls from the sky rumored to be caused by an autopilot or stabilization failure. If true, the issue or mechanical failure should be easy to determine with the technology available to the NTSB/FAA. Normally some sort of urgent release would follow with temporary mitigation directives to ensure a repeat occurrence for the remaining EC135s not sitting in a junk heap. If I were flying or flying in an EC135 I would be very concerned. What the heck is going on? |

Like Duke, this thing will drag on for months. Then one of those tipi emails will come out and all will be forgot and forgotten. Me thinks the pilot will retire very wealthy. |

I once flew an EC135 that would occasionally begin a slow roll oscillation that would increase in severtity. I have let it go on until it was alternating between left and right banks of 30 degrees. disengage the SCAS and it would immediately stop. No cautions, warnings or advisories. Maintenance coudln't figure it out. They just threw parts at it. One day they parked a spare next to it and switched out prettymuch every scas component and voila no more intermittent roll issue. However, a while later the spare began doing the same thing. Ive been wondering if this crew encountered the same kind of issue. |

the roll actuators are identical time in service they can build carbon in the motors identically and start to act up, identically, at X time. Had a roll runaway in lateral on both actuators at the cruise in an AS365 N2 due to it and an identical severe end to end yaw problem in an S76 B model. No clue if relevant to the discussion but if ya haven't heard of the reality there ya go. Not having identical component times is a big deal in ETOPS, or whatever the acronym is these days |

since we haven't heard anything urgent, official or otherwise, it would lead me to believe that whatever it was...it was an isolated issue. that's what I'm going with for now.
it'll take the usual number of NTSB years to release the final report but with aircraft data available and survivors to interview, they already know what the issue was and it must not be a fleetwide problem. |

And it could also be that a minor malfunction was handled, or over handled by the pilot making things worse. I guess the ntsb will have the answers |
