You must have spent some time at a new repair hub concept. Sounds like things are going "great"... |

Back then we came out of school got hired as a grade 6. Fuel handled, baggage handling ,sling loaded, whatever. Then if you did alright then you went to Heavy or light ship school then off to the Hangar of in the Gulf as grade 5 or Junior mechanic. Then a year or 2 you would be bumped to senior or grade 4. Nothing new. Have to start somewhere. |

Went there in 1981, 21 years old, out the oilfield roughneck. Started at $5.15, mechanic's helper, three years later A&P $12 and change. Retired 2020 at Bristow $105,000, like he said got to start somewhere.

The difference here is the positions were created to side step the low pay/open position issue. Senior/experienced mechanics are laughing at the offers made to fill open positions. Positions that are chronically staying open for months/years in some cases due to low pay. Hiring junior mechanics for a 7&7 base, working alone, that have no helicopter experience. This is happening, and has been for some time, the check always comes due. That is the difference |

Do you believe 105k was fair? Would you have stayed longer if the pay was increased? And to what amount would be willing to accept? It seems 105k after 40 years is a little low. |

Lived well, raised two kids, parochial schools, LSU, new vehicals, traveled out of country, north of $1.5 million in retirement. Call it low if you want. |
