Couple of questions. MedTrans is offering Geo Modifiers and retention Bonuses. How long do they last? Is that a one time offering to get you in the door or does it remain until the pilot shortage is over?

Also, are pilots having to wear masks at the base while waiting on a call? At Mother Rucker we are being monitored constantly to wear the mask. I'm not looking for a pandemic argument, but when you preflight with a mask on, then take it off while sitting next to someone flying, it doesnt make a lot of sense.

Thank in advance for your input.

Don't worry about any of it... seen lots of guys leave there over the past 2 years for WAY less money and they were happy with life to not deal with such incompetence and stupidity that Rucker has become since the start of the Lakota program.

Or tell me all the reasons it's so great to have to make such a hard decision to leave (aside from the great pay).

Rucker is an old man's job, go there after you've "Been there. done that".  When the scales tip to comfort vice adventure.

So far that has been covid related has made sense. Typical when logic is replaced with fear.

and can go up, down, or go away.  However, I have only seen them go up...just my limited experience.  MTC's geomods were in place prior to the current pilot "shortage" situation due to COVID when much fewer HAA jobs were available.  Typically, they're in harder to staff locations just like most of the other operators.  With regard to 24/7 masks, the party line is yes.  But, in reality...well, it's no Rucker.

Geo mods typically stay in place or increase.  Have yet to hear of one that went away.  As far as masks, when you are in common areas you have to wear a mask but it changes based upon the Mayo Heat map for the area.  When the heat map cools, you don't have to wear a mask if vaccinated.

Technically they can do what ever they want with a stipend. They almost doubled mine recently and I would be shocked if it ever decreased. Theyre also talking about salary increases. You are suppose to wear a mask at all times in common areas and company buildings. Absolutely no one does. Just a company insurance policy thing they have to say. Med trans as been real laid back. Great aviation manager, nice bases, and chill crews atleast in the new mexico/west Texas area.

working for Amentum and doing the contract job in the UH-72? Sounds like the ridiculous, useless, inconsistent, non-working mask rules would prevent anyone with common sense from going there. Was thinking of possibly considering going there, but if that's what is going on then no thanks.

Last I heard this past summer was that everyone was issued the storm trooper face shield (maxilofacial shield) for the HGU's and you had to use those while in the cockpit.

They're worthless for stopping Covid and stop any airflow from getting to your face to keep you cool in the blistering hot Lakota.  I took a thermometer and clipped it a few inches from the center console - in flight, the coolest it got was 108 degrees in the summer (with doors open and spoiled).  It was hotter than that at a hover or sitting at idle.  Startup with a student (REALLY slow in a complex aircraft like that) was almost unbearable in Alabama heat during the summer months.

Good job, Army

Oh, the Lakota only has ONE air vent for each pilot and it's way down by your knee!  Ridiculous.

Good job, EuroCopter/Airbus

I remember AMC taking over some bases a few years ago where they added a Geo to keep everyone at the pay they had with the old company. A year later the Geo went away and everyones pay went down.

Try to get  a higher base pay instead of the Geo when you negotiate.

Pilot shortage over? Afraid it may see a surplus if the HAA billing gets revamped.

So, business 101 here, once the needs are met the bonus/incentives go away...If they can't fill a base because it's in the middle of no-where, expensive, etc. the Geo-modifiers are awarded to attract. The modifiers usually remain. Some customers are such a pain that there are, at times, retention bonuses as well.

Masks, you work for a company that contracts with the Feds...Each hospital seems to control their fifedom as well. If you fly in support of a certain customer, well, you may have to wear a mask.
