I've got to be the debbie downer here.  I'm really happy no one died.  I'm glad hes able to go home and recover but people clapping and a line of police saluting him as hes loaded into an ambulance???  Really?  Really???  

assume death is the outcome of any air mishap. 

And most of the time they are correct.

But when most or all survive like in the Sully landing...../crash/hard landing.....to them it's another miracle.....cuz they think you should have died no matter what.

I land like a butterfly on my tippy toes with zero descent rate on a well timed flare and on lookers are flat out amazed.  Cuz in their mind they are expecting a catastrophic crash with a broken back......

it but those in the back were just doing their jobs, like the pilot up front.  They did them satisfactorily and credit to them.  Hopefully they'll get through all the freaking hype and be able to get on with their lives.

All this stupid American fascination with heroism is useless distraction.
