Sadly, we've become numb to inherent danger of what we do. I lost count of friends lost a long time ago. Query the ntsb database and tell yourself this isn't the most dangerous way of life.

There are plenty more dangerous jobs. In my 20’s I was a logger, 30’s I was a cop in a crappy California town. I’ve been power lining for 20 years. I can say logging and copping were way more dangerous than flying.

ems appears to be the most dangerous sector . Choppers flying straight and level in severe clear falling out of the fly. Either the 135 is very dangerous or air methods might want to consider some more training. Powerline work isn't dangerous no one crashed lately.

Not superstitous... but Yes... it really rings true based on past accidents - all in three's.

And yes, that dash cam footage from the 407 was ugly.

I can't wait to see the dashcam footage from the EC135 that is - if it's included in the NTSB report.

Wonder if the dashcam footage from the EC135 will be as bad to watch for other EC135 pilots to see.

You guys are ridiculous...

There are car crashes EVERY DAY.  Many of them having fatalites.

There are GA airplane crashes every few days.

Trains hit cars at crossings pretty consistently.  Trains even derail sometimes.

Boats run into things sometimes (and sink across the world more consistently than you'd think).

There are "wars and rumors of wars" despite looking at history books to see just how many conflicts are occuring simultaneously across the world during any 5 year window in the previous 2000 years.

There are famines across the world somewhere pretty much ever year of my lifetime.

But sure, helicopter crashes are occuring everywhere, all the time, and yours will be next.  It's definitely a dangerous business and I know more people who have died in aviation accidents than car accidents.  Look at the stats, though, and you'll be pretty surprised to find that it's safer than you think.

Also, the military doesn't advertise the majority of their accidents and the only news you hear are ones with fatalities or that occurred where media caught a photo of it.  Google FlightFax and look at previous months to see just how many Army accidents occur that you don't hear about in the media.

it as nofficially considered the most dangerous, atop commercial fishing, but due to our small industry size the statistical comparison is tough to validate.  Doesn't mean much excepting to governmental trigger points for support, read regulation.
