There are two engines..... what could possibly have caused this crash? From a single engine pilot perspective ...

If you can't think of a single reason why a dual engine helicopter would be forced to land immediately, I'd argue you aren't worth 60k a year.

Without hydraupics some helicopters are completely uncomfortable.

good enough reason to "land immediately".  Also possibly a reason why it ended the way it did...

anyway, this is all just speculation.  lets Wait for the report.

and for what it's worth I'll pick the twin engpine every single time over the single.

To my knowledge, there has never been a single hydraulic failure in 135, let alone dual fail.  If one was to fail the remaining system is more than adequate to maintain full boosted flight.  On other comment there is no helicopter out there that is impossible to fly with failed single hydraulic system.  some pilots may not be to handle it properly thru poor technique, but all are very flyable with single failures.  Wouldn't be certified otherwise.

Try an S-55 without hydraulics.  You should be able to get it to the ground, or water.  But, for sure, you're not going far single pilot.

You can't turn the hydraulics off on a 135.

Chip light, you don't know how quickly the transmission or engine will seize up. If it's the engine that seizes, chances are that's manageable. But if main or tail rotor seizes, and you are still in cruise flight, it will probably total the aircraft and not be survivable.

no, many helicopters aren't flyable without hydraulic boost.

There's always the chance that he took off with one engine at idle.

Then lost the good engine.

.....yeah, I'm talking to all you morons who have taken off in an ec135 with an engine at idle that we had to install a stupid box for the stupid idiot that when you pull in pitch bitching betty hollers in your ear that your engine is at idle.

More than 50 of you'uns pulled that stunt.  Idiots.

A tanker term used once. Never heard the term used at rifle range, mortar range, artillery range, gunship range, sidearm range, or any other range. Even the tankers at NTTC never used it in briefs or debriefs. In fact, they often briefed the opposite, moving in file while engaging targets off axis.
