OKC FAA Medical folks will wanr all the ests and particulars, if your case is mild enough, then you may get a special issuance.

I would call the AOPA right now.

Everyone who retired from the coast guard?  They found out that they can claim some additional disability to drain our tax dollars.

If you fail the sleep study. And you will, as your doctor wants to sell a CPAP. ,You will be out of work for months or years depending on what the small pool of doctors at Oklahoma City have to say.
If you think you need a CPAP. Don’t tell your AME.
My wife is sure I have apnea but I wake up everyday and go to work.

If you have to start using a CPAP ask your doctor about INSPIRE for sleep apnea

or check it out yourself on Google. I just started a few months ago and highly suggest it

if you qualify.

Question: How ould it get diagnosed? Are you sleeping with your AME? You can self-disclose yourself right out of a career, you know.

If you think you have sleep apnea, talk to your doctor and he will refer you for a sleep study to determine if you have it. I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea which was resolved with a CPAP. Flew for 10 years with sleep apnea. Special issuance from the FAA. Never had an issue. Took a little while to get the special issuance when I applied but after that no biggie. AOPA was helpful when I transitioned from the military to the FAA medical certification.

If you have sleep apnea - get treatment. Sleep apnea can cause several serious medical issues, like a stroke. That's a 2 year grounding (maybe permanant if these is damage) and getting your medical back is super expensive.
