Not defending the low pay.  But pilots should consider location, at some locales you can really stretch a dollar.  Yes, many times there is a reason for that.  However, many places, including some nice ones, 20 miles in one direction or another can mean thousands, paticularly in real estate.  Some out of the way places are horrible meth meccas, but some are nice places to raise a family.  In some places the cost of living is so high that no adjustment, COLA, ACCRA etc. will ever make up for it.  Choose wisely, or don't.  Just trying to help.

working on learning.  Good for you.

You'll get there.

BTW back then there were helicopter pilots getting paid more, far more, than me.

Highest I ever saw (with my very own little peepers) was 458K (W2 info) for an S76 driver based at Teterboro - unfortunately he did fly for a real bummer of an alleged human being.

There is money out there, just have to find it, sell yourself, then live up to your perceived posture.

really are not believable but you know that already.  If you get over your inability to assimilate the truth you might be able to figure where the money is and how to get plugged in.  By far your professional reputation had better be very solid because many phone calls are likely to be made, not to mention security and background and so on.  So far I haven't heard about anything as loathsome as polygraph and on and on but the beurocracy keeps growing.  I wish you luck if you choose the money path.  It pays bills and kid's schools etc.  Plenty of time for other real fun flying once you get set up.

I guess you don't get out much. There are way more inbreed idiots and trailer trash in the North/North East than in the South.  Take for example New Jersey, a state where it's legal to marry a member of your family.  New York City where people live stacked atop each other like rats.   Sorry you have bought into propaganda on TV (they always tell the truth, right, geesh).  Actuall, I am glad the moronic pieces of crap living in the North think the way they do as it keeps them from coming South.  On the other hand if the North East is so grea, why are they migrating to Florida and Texas?  BTW you can substitute the Nort East for the West Coast, same same.

Not sure why you think that.  I am a pilot and make around 150 thousand dollars a year.  I have over Two million dollars in savings and a military retirement (I guess that is what you call a redneck).  I own close to twenty five acres of land and a five bedroom three bath, brick, six year old home.   Hell,  I guess you are right, it sucks to be me.    Idiot!
