What's the next year looking like for Utility, Fires, etc.
Covid going to slow fire?
Experienced pilots coming back or moving on to Airlines?
2022 should be a fun year. |

Next year fires will burn... airlines will require people to show a vax card and passengers will stop flying.... and the next variant will pop and international travel will stop again... then all the helicopter pilots who left for the second time to the airlines will get laid off and come back again.. |

Sucks to be the taxpayer for next years fire season if the FS gets their way with new contracts.... probably sucks to be the operators too taking the risk.
Why would covid slow fire? If anything some chud is going to be out camping and light off a fire somewhere if covid shuts it all down again. That or everyone will revolt and the tankers will be busy with burning cities.
Experienced utility pilots aren't going to airlines, they're turning down work.
2022 should be a fun year, agreed. |

Power liners never airline! We make more money and far less silliness then any airline job could compete with. |

Considering my father is with a long haul freight operator and making over $300K as a cap with only 2 trips a month.....I'd say there isn't anything in the rotor world pulling that kind of coin with maybe 30 flights a year. |

have no special hold in flying helicopters try to follow your Dad's footsteps. There's no doubt freight is going to expand, probably a lot. |

HAA does get very boring no matter what you invent to push it off. One real problem is that boredom can affect your attitude towards safe flight operations, and may actually be an element of high HAA accident rates.
Personally I think when the weather minimums were put up beyond IFR and IFR alternate minimum values pilots were able to breathe a little easier, but, the, management started the work arounds. Not sure if they ever really got any place with them. |
