Msg ID: 2711595 Extra shift pay? +3/-3

AMC just started offering a 250 a day incentive pay on top of the 250 they already are offering.

Some of the more smarter pilots can educate me on the economics of paying pilots a low wage, then offer national pool pilot(Rental Car, Flights, Hotels etc.) and now more pay per shift.

Why don't we pay a better wage and seek better pilots for the company.

I would like a manager and and union people to school me on why we pay such low wages, and keep the culture of HAA in the dumps.

Well that's almost true....

I would say a lot of pilots got into HAA to not work.

If pilots flew this way in Utility Companies, and mom and pop places you would be fired.

Crappy pilots are ruining HAA because they can't go anywhere else.

I like making 130k a year and only flying 200 hours. Why fly 6-8 hours a day and travel if you don't have to. Still have to put in the 12 at the base, though.

It did NOT say anything to the affect of $250 plus $250, that's just simply false information your spreading. Its simply a bump from $200 to $250 period not $500 all together.

In my opinion a relief / pool that requires airfare, rental, hotel, per diem costs more than two pilots combined, more close to maybe three pilots staffed at the base when you figure all of those variables stated above and include salary. "Step over a dollar to pick up a dime" or whatever that saying is.

The extra $200 (the correct amount), is, in fact, in addition to the extra $250. This is only for a six-week period, it is not permanent.

Misinterpretation- You're awful smug for being so wrong. It says: "The holiday period bonus is in addition to whatever shift incentives or holiday pay are regularly earned for the period." Meaning the new $200 is on top of the already offered $250 incentive. Go ahead and check with your RAM or Rad, we'll wait. I just met with mine yesterday and he confirmed what the rest of us are telling you, it's $450 of combined incentive pay.

Your day for whatever amount, just do it and shut up about it. One day you will find that you can never get back that day, but you can always get back whatever pittance is being offered you.

Assured that no one could ever possibly have doubloons. Out of envy and jealousy he refuses to allow the thought. It is a sign of frustration and bitterness having to settle for scraps, and thinking that is all there is. If it comforts you, go with it. Comfort and bitterness cannot co exist.

people will work for those wages. right now they need to cover the open shifts. eventually the pay will come up, but in the meantime:it's overtime. it's not going to happen overnight.

and I don't want to fly all day like they do in utility. that's why I'm not in utility.

The point is- instead of offering the incentive pay - Pay a higher base salary all around and you won't have the open shift.

Another point- If you paid a higher rate you might get pilots that are more professional in manner and willing to be better employees to the company.

Just a different way of looking at things, instead of saying you make 130K a year and don't want to work anymore.  That's great that being in a HAA career for 20 plus years has you pay at that rate.  But with the current situation you should be around 160-200K year with all that experience.

Instead of all the pilots only going out for whats best them, maybe as a community we should raise all boats and make it a better Career and better Industry.
