How to Utilize Free Sim Time? +1/-1

Every year I go to the sim and end up with about 1.5 hours of free time during the last session. They always ask if there's anything I want to do since we've gone through everything and I never have a great answer.
Assuming I'm feeling confident about all the maneuvers/procedures what are some creative ways to utilize this free time? The only idea pilots at my base had was IIMC autorotations, 500-1000' breakouts. Do any of you have good/fun ideas of ways to kill time in a sim enjoyably? |

approaches and hydraulics failure could possibly serve you well in the future. |

Hand flying approaches is fun as it is, adding in a hydraulics failure to that might be good bragging rights. Thanks! |

While the sim isnt the best at autos you could do engine failures from different entries. Top of a vertical takeoff 100' and 0kts. Do it with free area ahead and then all trees. Max continuous power, full speed at 300' At different points along a EMS approach. But the best is probably hand flying in IMC since thats what tends to kill most, while I do enjoy tail rotor failures at 100' and 0 knots its not something you see alot of. If the sim has the ability to create quality pedal forces then recreate the 3 b3's that took off with the tail unboosted. Not sure if your aircraft is B2 or B3, dual or single hyd. But appreciating how much you need to step on the right pedal to keep her straight is important. Hopefully all that was demostrated with the real aircraft during training. |

Do ITO Instrument Take Off's in zero zero, you get a develop a quick cross check. Practice IAP intercepting the final approach inside the outer marker. Never know when you may need that skill. Hand fly IAP with the SAS off. |

Required to intercept the final approach inside the outer marker. The only approaches that use a marker, are the ILS or localizer. In IMC, before you start your descent to minimums at the final approach fix, or "outer marker" you should be established on a segment of the approach at that segm altitude. Any lateral deviation from the final approach course is not protected terps airspace past full scale lateral deflection. You are setting yourself up for CFIT or colliding with an obstacle outside protected airspace. |

It is crazy I admit, but if you are shooting an approach at your alternate and are low on fuel, are have an in flight emergency that requires you to get on the ground. The simulators are a great place to think out of the box. This works for inside FAF too of course. Or just for fun in sim. |

no way is a VFR pilot, already loaded up with an emergency, going to be able to do that. Forget it. |
