Colder with a much larger snowfall than average, that took an extra month more than usual to melt? Can we expect more of the same colder than average with much more snowfall this winter? Just Asking. |

you ask a helicopter pilot what the weather is going to be like. you must call a plumber when you need a root canal. |

There are managers, who know everything. Then there are med crew, who are experts at guessing and second guessing weather. In addition, you have the mechs, who love to think they know more than pilots, and probably do. |

What part of Alaska?
The big difference in "where" is moisture. That it will be cold enough to kill you overnight is given. But will it be a below zero dry cold, or a rainy 33F cold. If it's a dry cold, you just need good old fashion wool and layers. If it's wet you need raingear and layers.
For boots, a pair of insulated xtra-tuffs with good insoles will get you thru the night in both conditions. Might have to walk around a bit in the super cold dry areas.

Weather forecaster. They don't even have to be right 50% of the time. If I told my boss I couldn't land safely 100% of the time, I would get kicked to the curb;
